Our Mission
The Population Project is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to record the full name and place and date of birth of all humans alive.
Such an endeavor has never been attempted.
Despite the challenges inherent to this task, the Population Project is dedicated to recording the name of every single living person. It is our way of expressing the incredible strength and diversity of the human race.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Because every life deserves
to be acknowleged
It is estimated that 1 billion people have no legal existence whatsoever. They cannot vote, travel, or open a bank account. The Population Project might not be able to reverse their legal plight but it can give them something that costs little and means a lot: Acknowledgment.
Papers or not, in a generation or two, most of us will be forgotten. The Population Project will keep a log of who lived when. It will be a resource for historians and genealogists alike. No record will ever be deleted.

The Population Project is a US-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, started, and funded by entrepreneur and novelist Antoine Bello.
Our 15 employees are programmers, sourcers who look for public data around the world, and processors who clean and qualify those lists.
We also rely on a network of volunteers who send us lists of people from their countries or provide us with specialized technical assistance.

Spread the word
We are an ambitious enterprise with the budget of a nonprofit. We are not asking you for money but to spread the good word on social media.
Send us lists
The world map on the home page will give you an idea of the countries where we need the most help. The ideal list is long, official and contains some notion of birth year.
Edit records
If you count your family members, friends, schoolmates, and colleagues, you probably know a few hundred people. Look them up on the site. If their record is incomplete, enrich it. If it doesn’t exist yet, create it!
