Meeting between Aristide Briand and Gustav Stresemann in Thoiry, near Geneva, which seals the start of reconciliation Franco-German. Briand seeks financial aid from Germany in exchange for political concessions. Thoiry's conversations, known following indiscretions, caused a wave of indignation in France. Poincaré, who succeeded in stabilizing the currency without German aid, was able to declare, at the end of September, that the government would not sacrifice the rights given to France by the treaties.
